About

Concepts & Ascents is a venue for short essays at the intersection of metaphysics, philosophy of religion, and the contemplative traditions. The questions taken up here are old: the structure of reality, the relation of unity to multiplicity, the soul's ascent to the One, and the long conversation between Greek philosophy and the revealed traditions that drew it forward.

It is written by Rashad Abdulsalam, who reads in the Neoplatonic and Akbarian lineages — Plotinus, Ibn ʿArabī, al‑Ghazālī, and their contemporary interpreters. He is based in Florida.

The aim is modest: to organize a body of thought slowly, in public, and in writing that is precise rather than ornamented.
